If I Were President – A Modest Proposal

There is apparently a proposal afoot to deny Second Amendment rights to those on the terror watch list, which the government can put you on with no due process and no appeal. I also understand that something on the order of 35-40% of people on the list have no known affiliation with a terrorist group.

If I were president, I would arrange to have the bureaucracy (supposedly insulated from presidential control, but we all know how that works at the IRS) put every member of Congress on the terrorist watch list, and send them all a personal letter informing them that current law affords them no due process and no appeal. “I trust you will discern the appropriate course of action.”

If only forcing Congress to experience the effects of their oppressive laws were so easy in other cases!
